Popular Culture Theory & Criticism
This course is an introduction to critical theories of popular stardom and celebrity. We will study different aspects of the celebrity phenomenon, such as the historical development of celebrity, the public persona, scandal, notoriety, infamy, narcissism, fandom, and the celebrity industry . Course work will include two exams, a research paper, quizzes, and active participation in discussion.
