Topics in Film: Detective Films

This course is intended as an investigation of the Hollywood genre of film noir, which includes detective and crime films. We will read about the genre as a whole and study its incarnations in various films from the classical period of the 1940s-50s and the neo-noir era beginning in the 1970s-the present. Course work will include two exams, a research paper, quizzes, and active participation in discussion.
